What a month it has been for the crew here at Fisher’s Catch Outfitters! The last week of October turned out to be another busy one as we wrapped up our final stretch of Coho salmon fishing downriver in the Columbia River Gorge and started shifting gears toward one of our favorite times of the year fall and winter walleye fishing! With our Colorado elk hunting adventures coming to an end, the crew is making their way back home and getting ready to hit the Columbia River in full force. The boats are getting dialed in, the gear is being prepped, and our guides are ready to start putting clients on some incredible fall and winter walleye.

This is the time of year we really start getting excited about walleye fishing! As the seasons change and water temperatures begin to drop, our focus turns to finding those schools of quality eater-sized fish while also putting in the time to locate and pattern the big winter trophies that make the Columbia River famous. There’s nothing quite like putting a limit of beautiful walleye in the cooler, but there’s also something special about chasing that fish of a lifetime. Those big, heavy winter females are what keep us coming back year after year, and we’re looking forward to seeing what this season has in store.

Looking back on October, it’s hard not to smile. From the Columbia River Gorge all the way upriver to the Hanford Reach, our guides covered a lot of water and shared some outstanding fishing with clients from all over. We chased Coho salmon, fall Chinook, walleye, and sturgeon, making the most of everything the Columbia River had to offer. But for us, it’s about more than just the number of fish that hit the deck. It’s about the early mornings, the bent rods, the excitement of that first big fish, and the laughter shared throughout the day. We caught a lot of fish this month, but just as importantly, we made a lot of new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
